As various media have consistently reported, supplier Voith is splitting off its drive technology division by spinning out the commercial-vehicle division from the Voith Turbo Commercial Vehicles corporate division and transferring it into an independent company: By 1 November 2025 Driventic is to become an independent specialist for alternative and conventional powertrain technologies in the commercial-vehicle industry. From that date, Driventic, with its 1,400 employees, will operate on the market as a legally, organizationally and operationally independent company. The focus of the new company, based in Heidenheim, will be on

expanding its e-mobility business, but it will also offer conventional drive solutions.

Voith at Busworld Europe

At the current Busworld Europe in Brussels, Voith Turbo Commercial Vehicles, or the future Driventic, is showing the electric drive systems VEDS and VEDS 1.5 – consisting of the HD motor and the drive inverter system. The former has been on the market for five years, the latter as a further development only since July 2025.

“Busworld Europe is our most important trade fair for the commercial-vehicle sector. We are therefore especially pleased to

be able to present Driventic there for the first time under the new brand name and to give customers, partners and suppliers a first impression of our future identity,” said Dr. Gregor Wiche, CEO Commercial Vehicles and soon also Driventic.

Voith justifies the spin-off at this point in time by stating that Driventic, as an independent company, will in the future be better able to make quick decisions. The company can act more flexibly and respond in a timely manner to new market developments.

“Above all, we will advance the

further development of electric drive systems,” emphasized Wiche. Without neglecting conventional solutions in order to offer customers “future-proof products in both technology areas.”

Broad product portfolio

Driventic employs 1,400 staff at 27 locations in 19 countries. According to the authorities, the future product range of the subsidiary will include both integrated complete systems and digital services. Specifically named, in addition to the two above-mentioned electric drives, are the automatic transmissions Diwa and Diwa NXT, a retarder and air compressors, the Turbo-Compound gear solution and the Hydrodamp vibration damper.
