The MBS Logistics Group, an internationally active freight forwarding and logistics company headquartered in Cologne, is expanding its service portfolio with an independent business unit for aerospace/aviation logistics. Joerg Hansen is to steer the new MBS Aerospace business unit from the Hamburg location, according to a press release dated November 10. He brings extensive experience in airfreight and aviation logistics, including in senior positions at Geis Air + Sea GmbH and Group7 AG.

The transport of components and spare parts for the

aviation industry requires precise planning, rapid responsiveness, and specialized technical expertise. With the new business unit, MBS Logistics aims to consolidate and expand competencies that already exist within the company: in the time-critical transport services of MBS Anytime as well as in the aviation logistics specialist Gerhard Wegmüller GmbH in Zürich, which was acquired this year.

A single point of contact for companies with complex and time-sensitive requirements

The integration of time-critical transport solutions, local market presence, and long-standing aviation expertise strengthens

responsiveness and service quality in international markets, according to MBS. Thus, with MBS Aerospace, a clearly structured single point of contact for companies with complex and often time-critical requirements is to be created. According to the announcement, this includes manufacturers (Original Equipment Manufacturers/OEMs), maintenance and repair organizations (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul/MRO), airlines, service centers, and parts dealers.

The range of services includes, among others, AOG transports (Aircraft on Ground), Next Flight Out (NFO), On Board Courier (OBC), charter solutions for airfreight, the

continuous 24/7 monitoring and operational control, customs and export control processing, and support along maintenance and repair processes.

“The aviation industry places particular demands on logistics processes, especially in a time-critical environment. With the new business unit, we are pooling competencies and creating a clear organizational unit that does justice to this specialized segment. Joerg Hansen brings the necessary technical depth and market knowledge for this. We are very pleased to welcome him aboard,” explains Joerg Roehl, CEO of the MBS Logistics
