Lithium-ion batteries are now used in numerous mobile devices. Their high energy density and low weight make them especially powerful, but they also carry an increased risk. In the case of mechanical damage, overcharging, or improper storage, the batteries can overheat significantly and, in the extreme case, ignite.
The company Cemo aims to minimize these risks and, therefore, offers special charging and storage cabinets for lithium-ion batteries. These cabinets are designed to be fire- and explosion-protected and
have been tested according to the testing standard applicable since 2024. The new standard requires practical battery-fire tests inside the cabinets and thus replaces previous tests that only considered external fire loads.
The current models of the lockEX series – Basic, Premium and Premium Plus – feature a patented pressure relief that, in the event of a battery explosion, retains burning components and the gases generated inside. This is intended to vent the overpressure in a controlled
manner and protect the surroundings.
Variants and Equipment
The battery cabinets are available in several sizes and configurations and can be tailored to the application. All models meet the new testing standards.
