Carglass Deutschland is taking new steps toward closer proximity to customers: Together with the parking operator Apcoa, the auto glass specialist has, in June 2025, put a pilot location into operation in the parking garage of the MyZeil shopping center in Frankfurt. The aim is to offer windshield repairs directly where customers are already—right in the city center.
For Carglass, the new location is part of an innovative service approach in which workshop services are integrated into urban mobility centers. Three reserved parking spaces in the Apcoa garage enable simultaneous repairs on several vehicles. Booking
is via Carglass's online platform. Those who use the service also park free for up to 120 minutes.
„Our goal is to move closer to our customers—and for that we also think 'out of the box,'” says Bernd Zimmermann, Director Service Delivery at Carglass. “The pilot project with a downtown-adjacent parking garage is an exciting step in a new direction.”
Apcoa intends to offer electric charging stations, parcel lockers and vehicle services in parking garages
The collaboration with Apcoa is part of the so-called Urban Hub strategy of the parking garage operator. The aim of
this initiative is to transform parking garages into multifunctional service centers—for example with electric charging stations, parcel lockers, or vehicle services such as auto glass repair.
Carglass also sees potential in the collaboration for greater flexibility in customer service.
„We want to make the customer experience as pleasant as possible—through service where people are already,“ emphasizes Zimmermann. The new location in the heart of Frankfurt allows customers to combine repairs with their shopping.
If the Frankfurt launch proves successful, further locations nationwide are planned.
Urban Hub Strategy of the parking garage operator Apcoa
Part of
Apcoa's Urban Hub strategy are also logistics projects: Gemeinsam mit dem Textildienstleister MEWA wurde in Berlin etwa ein innerstädtischer Logistikhub eingerichtet. Im Parkhaus unter der Mall of Berlin nutzt MEWA eine Teilfläche als Zwischenlager für Berufs- und Businesskleidung. Täglich liefern Lkw am frühen Morgen saubere Wäsche aus dem brandenburgischen Groß Kienitz an. Vor Ort erfolgt die Umladung auf elektrische Mini-Vans und zweispurige Lastenräder des Berliner Herstellers ONOMOTION, die die Ware lokal und emissionsfrei zustellen. Die gebrauchte Kleidung wird abends zurücktransportiert – zunächst ins Depot, anschließend in die Wäscherei. Die Zusammenarbeit sei laut Unternehmen langfristig angelegt.
