Häcker Küchen GmbH & Co. KG expands its mobile-robot fleet at the site in Venne, Lower Saxony, and once again relies on Jungheinrich's automation expertise. The pallet truck and robotics provider recently announced this via a press release.
According to this, three additional driverless transport vehicles of the type “ERC 213a” will be deployed at Plant 5 of the kitchen specialist. The expansion, according to Jungheinrich, responds to the rising transport demand as a result of the kitchen manufacturer's ongoing growth. Thus, the fleet grows to a total of 16
driverless transport vehicles of the type ERC 213a.
Demand-driven expansion
Häcker Küchen has been relying for several years on driverless high-lift trucks from Jungheinrich to supply the production and order-picking areas, according to the forklift supplier. The proven system architecture will now be expanded to meet demand.
The networked system is designed for continuous 24/5 operation. Through an automatic charging infrastructure, the compact high-lift trucks equipped with lithium-ion batteries are supplied with energy for around-the-clock use.
Around-the-clock operation
According to Jungheinrich, the ERC 213a vehicles feature a compact design for
narrow working aisle widths. Using precise laser guidance, the driverless transport vehicles navigate safely through the warehouse at all times, while extensive safety systems enable operation in mixed traffic with manual vehicles and pedestrians.
“The existing fleet of 13 ERC 213a was no longer sufficient for the necessary transport volume,” explains Alexander Berane, project engineer at Häcker Küchen. “With the expansion, we are preparing for further growth and higher transport throughput. The cooperative partnership with Jungheinrich, which is characterized by a deep understanding of our needs, high system availability, and
reliable project execution, has convinced us once again.”
