What contribution can packaging make to help companies achieve their environmental goals? Schütz presents answers at FACHPACK 2025 from September 23 to 25 in Nuremberg in the form of packaging systems and services that, according to the Selters-based company, unite sustainability, safety and efficiency.
The circular system "Schütz Ticket Service" relies on a globally established network of reuse and refurbishment programs, tailored to the requirements of customers and emptiers. This includes both open and closed loops for IBCs, drums and canisters with professional cleaning, replacement and repair of packaging components, as well as packaging-specific procedures such as the thermal treatment of steel drums. Implementation takes place across more than 70 production and service locations worldwide as well as through certified partners –
alone in Europe at 28 locations.
At the Schütz stand, the "Schütz Impeller", a fully recyclable single-use agitator for IBCs, will also be displayed. The system, which can be integrated directly at the factory upon request, enables, according to the supplier, safe and contamination-free stirring of viscous substances in a closed container. The use of the impeller is exemplified in an "Ecobulk MX560". This IBC with a 560-liter filling volume is, according to Schütz, well suited for mobile use due to its comparatively low tare weight.
Lightly flammable liquids are safely packaged, according to Schütz, with the Ecobulk SX-D. This IBC is suitable for use in Ex zones 1 and 2 and has successfully completed fire protection tests with flammable and combustible
liquids. The double-walled construction provides additional leak protection. At FACHPACK, the IBC in the variant "SX-D OV" will be exhibited. In addition to the top dispensing option, it features a bottom outlet valve for extraction.
For highly permeable, aggressive and corrosive fill goods, often classified in the so-called Packaging Group I, Schütz's "Combi-Fass" is designed. Here, according to the packaging specialist, the stability and permeation protection of a standard steel drum are combined with an inner container made of HDPE plastic, which ensures corrosion resistance and cleanliness. For double leakage protection, the interspace is sealed with a round gasket.
To ensure that industrial packaging and their fill goods reach their destination not only sustainably but also safely, the company has developed new
pallet variants for IBCs and a load-securing concept for steel drums. Even the choice of these critical components decisively influences the overall performance of the packaging solution, according to Schütz. A particularly sustainable option is the plastic-framed pallet with its robust construction. It is manufactured in-house at the company's injection molding facility from 100 percent recycled material.
But according to Schütz, other materials also offer future-proof solutions. By adding an additional center skid, the three-skid steel pallet not only achieves a larger contact area, but load distribution is significantly better compared with a conventional three-skid steel pallet—especially for heavy goods with high density. To ensure safety when transporting steel drums on pallets, Schütz has developed the load securing "Drumfix".
