The U.S.-based logistics provider C.H. Robinson announced at its annual customer event 'Advance 2025' in October the introduction of the logistics platform 'Agentic Supply Chain'. According to a press release, this is a software ecosystem that continually thinks, learns, adapts, and acts. The system understands the context, makes decisions in real time, and autonomously optimizes global supply chains at a large scale, it says.
The 'Always-On Logistics Planner' from C.H. Robinson is, according to the company, a digital workforce of more than
30 connected AI agents that perform shipping tasks that could not be automated before. With the Agentic Supply Chain solutions, the company now offers a logistics platform whose task profile ranges from planning and procurement to delivery and replenishment.
The AI agents from C.H. Robinson are expected to grow in number over time, deliver more insights, and work with greater foresight and proactivity.
C.H. Robinson developed Agentic Supply Chain, according to the company, by combining AI technology, its logistics data set, and
the expertise of logistics professionals. This was done in alignment with the company’s lean operating model. This disciplined approach is also known as Lean AI. With more than 37 million shipments per year, C.H. Robinson operates at a scale that enables the company to train AI to the complexity of the real world and deploy agents that make smarter decisions.
“With agent-based AI, we unlock the value that lies in unstructured data such as phone calls, emails, and institutional knowledge,” said Mike
Neill, Chief Technology Officer of C.H. Robinson. “In September alone, one of our AI agents captured 318,000 freight-tracking updates from a single type of phone call. This data had previously been invisible to our systems; now it flows to another AI agent. That agent updates our platform, complements our estimated arrival times (ETAs), and optimizes our customers’ deliveries.”
