The logistics industry is facing a major challenge: Heavy loads are moved thousands of times daily. High physical strain is therefore part of the daily routine for many employees. This often leads to back problems, which not only affect health but also lead to increasing absenteeism. Kleine Spedition GmbH has therefore decided to use Htrius’s passive exoskeleton - the "BionicBack"
model. Htrius recently announced this in a press release.
The company picks up to 15,000 packages daily with varying weights between 20 grams and 40 kilograms. The constant lifting, bending, and carrying present an enormous strain.
"Every single employee takes up to 20,000 steps a day and lifts up to 3,000 packages. You notice that not only after work but
also in the long term healthwise," explains Thomas Rütten, logistics manager at Kleine Spedition GmbH. "Back pain, herniated discs, and knee problems are unfortunately not uncommon here."
The feedback from the staff is consistently positive:
"I hadn't known anything like it from any other company," reports an employee. "Since I've been wearing the BionicBack, I no longer have back pain
after work. Without the exoskeleton, sometimes I can't sleep until two in the morning – now everything is fine."
Particularly impressive: Many employees don't want to take the BionicBack off anymore.
"We have colleagues who wear it from morning till the end of the workday. Even during breaks, they leave it on and only loosen the straps briefly," says Rütten.
