The German Material Flow Congress (MFK) will take place as part of the TEST CAMP INTRALOGISTICS in Dortmund starting next year. The event will move from its previous location in Garching near Munich to the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund. The congress will become part of a two-day format that brings together providers, users, planners, and scientists. The MFK was launched in the mid-1980s by the Association of German Engineers (VDI) and took place at the Technical University of Munich from 2002 to 2025. The technical sponsor remains the VDI Society for Production and Logistics, supported by the Chair of Materials Handling Material Flow Logistics (fml) at the Technical University of Munich.
The move to Dortmund is associated with a conceptual further development. According to the
organizers, in addition to the lecture program, the new format offers the opportunity to directly test current intralogistics and robotics solutions in the so-called Event Cube. The congress takes place on April 15 and 16, 2026.
The MFK 2026 is under the theme “Next Stop: Beyond Automation.” The focus will be on technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, robotics, and interconnected systems that advance classical automation. The aim is to explore their practical applications
and discuss economically viable solutions.
The TEST CAMP INTRALOGISTICS will be held for the sixth time in Dortmund in 2026. It is understood as a test event with an accompanying congress, where innovations from logistics and intralogistics are the central focus. Visitors can, for instance, try out industrial trucks, warehouse technology, exoskeletons, software, or driverless transport vehicles themselves. The format is aimed at decision-makers with a concrete interest in technology use and investment.
