The knife and tool manufacturer Friedr. Dick has commissioned Element Logic with an extensive automation project for the intralogistics of its expanded new logistics center in Deizisau near Esslingen. The system integrator announced this in May. The complete solution with "AutoStore" facility along with stage construction, conveyor technology, the integration of lifts and industrial robots, as well as Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) for pallet transport, is intended to secure the performance and future viability of the family-owned company.
The family-owned
company Friedr. Dick GmbH & Co. KG, founded in 1778 and based in Deizisau near Esslingen, produces knives and tools as well as sharpening steels and grinding machines for chefs and butchers. Following the dissolution and integration of external warehouses, and with the aim of standardizing logistics and production processes, the logistics capacities at the company site are currently being more than doubled. The company awarded the contract to create an automation concept and for the corresponding equipment to the
system integrator Element Logic.
For the expanded logistics center, Element Logic is constructing an AutoStore facility on a stage structure with 33,000 storage locations for system containers. Fourteen "R5" robots will handle the loading, rearranging, and unloading. An automated pick solution with two articulated robots is used to fill the system containers. Each of the two industrial robots is connected to two "ConveyorPorts" for stocking the AutoStore system via a conveyor technology connection.
Element Logic implements the entire installed conveyor
technology, including lifts for servicing the stage area as well as the supply and removal of production and packing lines, with components from its own "ELCON50" conveyor system. Four "CarouselPorts" are integrated for order picking. The optimized system control is handled by Element Logic's "eController" software. Friedr. Dick and Element Logic have also agreed on a service contract for the maintenance and performance assurance of the overall system. The project implementation is expected to be completed by the end of
