The Lower Rhine Transport Company NIAG is setting the course for the future: As of May 1, 2025, Jan Sönke Eckel (53) and Sebastian Falterbaum (42) will jointly take over the management of the logistics division. They will be responsible for the NIAG-owned railway company, the railway infrastructure company operated by NIAG, the Orsoy Rhine port in Rheinberg, as
well as the wagon workshop and various service units. The change is occurring as a result of the appointment of the previous division manager, Stefan Pelz, to the NIAG board.
Jan Sönke Eckel has been part of NIAG since January 2025. The trained freight forwarding agent and DAV business economist was previously the managing director of RheinCargo GmbH &
Co. KG and brings extensive leadership experience from the logistics industry, according to the company.

Sebastian Falterbaum has been with NIAG for more than twelve years. After holding various leadership positions, including team leader for scheduling and head of planning & control, he has been leading the railway division since September 2021. Additionally, he
has been managing director of NIAG subsidiary UTG Umschlags- und Transportgesellschaft mbH since 2016. Falterbaum is a freight forwarding agent and completed a business administration degree (VWA) with a focus on logistics.
