At the Gurkerl Logistics Center in Vienna, the "AutoStore" system is being used for the first time for the so-called "expedition" in the dry goods area – i.e., the steps between picking and delivery, the parent company Rohlik Group announced in a press release on October 17. Completed orders are automatically sorted by delivery route directly in the AutoStore grid and prepared for shipment.

In addition, a robotic picking arm will be deployed in Vienna that assembles orders autonomously. According to Rohlik Group, this will automate nearly all manual steps in warehouse logistics.

The result is higher throughput, shorter processing times, and significantly lower personnel requirements—while maintaining the

same delivery quality, the statement said. With the new automation systems, the Gurkerl Logistics Center in Vienna is developing into a technologically advanced e-food site.

15,500 items are stored in Vienna in seven temperature zones – from fresh to frozen goods to dry products. In the future, the processing time in the warehouse should be 30 minutes, and delivery to the doorstep is to take place within three hours of the order.

As part of a partnership, Rohlik's spin-off Veloq combines its AI-based fulfilment software with AutoStore technology. As an official AutoStore solutions provider, Veloq will offer in the future a holistic end-to-end solution for online grocery retail

– consisting of software, hardware and operational intelligence.

“At Rohlik, we have shown what is possible when grocery expertise meets cutting-edge technology: Great groceries can be made available quickly, conveniently, and with minimal waste,” said Tomáš Čupr, founder and CEO of Rohlik Group. “In this way we support families in all our markets to eat fresher, better and more sustainably. Our growth in Europe has been enabled by the technology stack that today forms the heart of Veloq. The partnership with AutoStore now brings this model to the global stage. Our Gurkerl Logistics Center in Vienna demonstrates vividly what can be achieved when our vision meets scalable innovation.”

Veloq's platform already manages all fulfilment processes in all five markets of the Rohlik Group – from intelligent picking and dynamic workforce planning to AI-based route optimization. According to Rohlik, it achieves industry-leading performance metrics with 94 percent order accuracy, on-time deliveries, and Net Promoter Scores above 90.

With the automated site in Vienna, Veloq is initiating the development of a new generation of high-performance e-food logistics centers that will in the future be established worldwide in partnership with AutoStore. The goal is to meet the growing demand for AI-optimised fulfilment infrastructure. Expansion to North America is already in preparation to rapidly and profitably replicate the Vienna model
