Kardex Mlog will renew 22 stacker cranes (RBG) for Tchibo in the high-bay warehouse of the Bremen logistics center in the Neustädter Hafen. The project started in May 2025 and is to be completed by November 2026 in eleven steps, according to a press release from the material flow systems integrator. The new RBG will be hoisted into the interior of the high-bay warehouse through small roof openings. Due to the wide reach, the use of an 800-ton crane

is required. The first old stacker crane, including slip rings and guide rails, was already replaced in May with a new unit of type “Kardex MSingle B-1200/41-ZT.” Ten more RBGs will follow later this year.

By replacing the 22-year-old and 45-meter-high stacker cranes in Blocks 1 and 2 of the high-bay warehouse, the Bremen logistics center will be made future-proof in an efficient manner. For the project, Kardex Mlog is implementing an additional control option at the rear gangway

access. In addition, fire suppression systems will be integrated in the 22 control cabinets of the RBG as well as in a stationary cabinet. The scope of supply from Kardex Mlog includes, besides the hardware, the interface to the existing material flow computer as well as a service package with preventive maintenance, hotline, and individually tailored spare-parts provisioning.

“With Kardex Mlog, not only the technology and price are right,” said Alexander Ralfs, Director of Supply Chain Management & Logistics

at Tchibo GmbH. “The competent consulting and meticulous planning also convinced us.”

Ultimately, the decisive factors were the extensive experience with comparable projects and a very positive reference visit.
