Nine apprentices from Österreichische Post AG are currently independently managing the operation of the 4010 Linz post office at Domgasse 1. According to the postal service provider, the young talents are autonomously carrying out all tasks as part of the so-called "apprentice branch" - from customer consulting to the sale of telecommunication products, trade goods, and financial services from bank99. Experienced trainers are available to support them if needed. The project will run until July 18, 2025.

Award for three top apprentices

As part of the apprentice initiative, Österreichische Post has honored three particularly dedicated apprentices from different branches. Marius Kendlbacher (branch Mattighofen) and Stefan Dimitrov (branch Vienna) were able

to redeem their collected reward points for a Kia Picanto, while Marco Berneder (branch Linz) opted for a Vespa. The performance evaluation was based, among other things, on successful sales results in the A1 telecommunication sector, moderation activities at internal events, and their engagement as representatives at career fairs.

Walter Oblin, CEO of Österreichische Post AG: “Our apprentice branch impressively demonstrates the energy, skill, and enthusiasm that our young talents bring. It is wonderful to see how they take on responsibility, work independently, and surpass themselves. Such initiatives are an essential building block for strategically promoting young people and accompanying them on their career paths. And I congratulate our diligent

apprentices Marco, Marius, and Stefan for their outstanding achievements, which we are happy to reward.”

Accompanying program for customers

During apprentice week, customers at the Linz branch are offered an additional summer program. This includes a free ice cream stand, a photo booth, foosball, and a prize wheel with goodies.

Post invests in young talent training

Currently, around 250 apprentices are in training at Österreichische Post. Eight apprenticeships are offered, including retail with a focus on telecommunications and the newly structured area “Letter and Parcel Logistics” (formerly “Proximity and Distribution Logistics”) starting in fall 2025. Only a few positions are available for the training start in September 2025 – including

in Linz.

Additional benefits and training structure

Apprentices who remain with the company for at least two years after completing their training receive coverage for driving license costs. There is also the opportunity for an apprenticeship with a high school diploma. Further offers are accessible via the company's own platform "goodie" – including meal vouchers, a free account at bank99, health services, and holiday discounts. In addition to vocational training, Post offers individual seminars through the “Apprentice Academy.” The monthly gross remuneration varies depending on the apprenticeship year between approximately 1,000 and 1,900 euros. High school graduates are also explicitly addressed, provided they bring motivation, willingness to learn, and team
