DAF expands the program with a range of special chassis for vehicle transport. These are available with a low chassis height as XD, XF, XG, and XG+. Additionally, models with regular or sloping roofs are available.
According to DAF, the aim was to lower the new chassis as much as possible to maximize the usable space within the legally permissible vehicle height of four meters. The basis for this series is Low-Deck models. Thanks to the lowering of the wheel suspension by four centimeters
and 22.5-inch wheels with low-profile tires, a chassis height of 83 centimeters is achieved.
Regular or Sloping Roof
The range of vehicle transporters includes vehicles in which cars can be loaded behind the cab – they are available in all cab variants of the new generation DAF trucks, namely XD, XF, XG, and XG+.
The XD version also offers models with a regular roof (18 centimeters) or a sloping roof, allowing vehicles to be loaded above the cab. The XD cab already has a
low position on the chassis, providing ample space for the driver's workspace, rest, and sleeping area.
The chassis for vehicle transport is available in various wheelbases. In addition to the 4x2 models, 6x2 versions for additional load capacity are also available. These come equipped with a light 4.5-ton lead axle and 17.5-inch wheels, according to the information provided.
Equipment Features
The technical features of the new chassis include further improvements to the drivetrain in Paccar MX-11 and MX-13 engines. The so-called Predictive Cruise Control
is part of the standard equipment.
Additionally, the new vehicles are set to impress with a large windshield, a low-set frame, and the camera systems DAF Digital Vision System and DAF Corner View.
“With the introduction of this new range of chassis, we offer a tailored solution for the transport of cars, trucks, and tractors,” said Bart Bosmans, member of the DAF board and responsible for marketing and sales.
According to Bosmans, the new chassis can be ordered directly from DAF partners - including
