The international logistics service provider Fercam is further developing its digital strategy, relying on various solutions from the transport management platform Transporeon. According to company information, the cooperation between both partners has existed for 15 years and is continuously supplemented by new applications. Fercam is active in 23 countries and uses Transporeon technologies to make its own transport processing more efficient and increase transparency within the network.
Real-time tracking as a basis for operational decisions
Fercam places a focus on the use of Real Time Visibility. This application enables seamless tracking of transports in real time. According to the press release, the solution is based on artificial intelligence and machine learning. It provides precise and continuously updated arrival times and can be integrated into existing tracking systems. Fercam uses these functions for both its own fleet and vehicles from partner companies within the logistics network.
According to the description, Real Time Visibility not only provides internal transparency about the shipment status but also transmits
the current information directly to the customers. In this way, more precise planning of transport processing should be possible. At the same time, Fercam aims to avoid empty runs through improved ETA forecasts, thereby reducing environmental impact in road freight transport.
Simplified integration of external freight forwarders
Fercam and Transporeon are working on an additional feature that simplifies the registration process for external transport service providers. According to information from the press release, repeated onboarding in new application scenarios is no longer necessary once a forwarder is integrated into the system. The registered fleets are then automatically available to all parts of the Fercam group. This is intended to significantly reduce time expenditure and technical coordination when connecting external partners. According to the company presentation, this measure supports smooth data transmission within the European logistics network.
Market analysis and offer automation with digital tools
In addition to real-time tracking, Fercam uses further digital instruments from the Transporeon platform. These include Market Insights, Freight Marketplace,
and Autonomous Quotation. The Market Insights application provides current market analyses and comparison data to support pricing strategy. The Freight Marketplace serves as a digital place for the neutral allocation of freight to suitable providers. With Autonomous Quotation, Fercam automates the creation of spot offers. The price suggestions are based on predefined parameters and are adjusted during ongoing operations by machine learning.
“Over the years, a partnership based on trust and synergies has developed between us and Fercam. Fercam now also uses Market Insights in combination with Freight Marketplace and Autonomous Quotation,” explains Giovanni Grandis, Commercial and Sales Director – Delivering Transport Management Solutions at Transporeon. “Especially Autonomous Quotation was developed to efficiently automate the daily offer process.”
Digitization of transport documentation in practical test
Another step in digital transformation involves the introduction of electronic consignment notes. Since 2024, Fercam has been testing the use of the e-CMR solution. The goal is to simplify administrative processes, reduce resource use, and completely replace paper-based documentation,
according to the announcement. The introduction of the e-CMR is part of a broader sustainability strategy aimed at reducing environmental impact in freight transport.
“Through integration with Freight Marketplace, we are improving our agility, resilience, and reliability – both as a freight receiver and freight forwarder,” explains Carlo Pinamonti, Director Sales Europe and Sales Strategy in the FTL (Full Truck Load) division of Fercam. “Thanks to direct digital connection, we access an even larger European network and offer our customers maximum transparency and real-time tracking.”
Technology use as part of corporate strategy
Fercam sees digitization as a strategic component of its operational business. The long-term collaboration with Transporeon serves not only to introduce individual software solutions but also to build a comprehensive digital ecosystem. This is intended to strengthen the collaboration between customers, partners, and service providers in logistics. As part of this partnership, Fercam will participate in the Transporeon Summit in Amsterdam in September to report on its experiences with digital transformation in
