That electric trucks can be used economically in long-haul transport is demonstrated by WLX WeLink Express in Malmö, Sweden. The Swedish logistics service provider has put the battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 into operation as a tractor unit.
Seven-axle articulated vehicle, 25.25 meters long
The eActros 600, designed
for long-haul transport, is currently used by WLX WeLink Express for DHL as an articulated vehicle with a trailer on a route of over 1,000 kilometers, which is tackled by several drivers working together.
With a total length of up to 25.25 meters, seven axles and a
gross weight of 36 tonnes, the electric truck is on two tours between Malmö, Jönköping and Emmaboda for the international logistics provider, five days per week, up to 18 hours per day.
Even when covering only half of the daily distance, the articulated vehicle reportedly achieves a
