Mercedes-Benz Trucks has delivered the first two eActros 600 to the Dutch logistics service provider Simon Loos. The battery-electric semi-trailers will be used immediately in retail distribution for Lidl in the Netherlands. According to Daimler Truck, the company has ordered a total of 75 vehicles of this type and is doubling its existing electric fleet with this large order.
Fleet manager Wim Roks commented on the previous practical tests of the vehicles:
"After months of intensive tests under various conditions, the two eActros 600 have impressively proven their reliability. We look forward to their use in daily operations with great confidence. While we were previously able to reliably plan trips up to about 300 kilometers, the eActros 600 now enables up to 500 kilometers per trip."
Testing and Driver Training
As early as summer 2024,
Simon Loos became the first company outside Germany to begin practical testing of the eActros 600. In this context, a near-series prototype covered around 25,000 kilometers between suppliers and distribution centers.
In doing so, the company gained insights into driving comfort, safety, energy consumption, and charging infrastructure. Mercedes-Benz Trucks accompanied the deployment with targeted driver training. The collaboration between the manufacturer and Simon Loos has existed for many years. As early as 2020, the logistics company was the first to use the eActros 300 in regular operations.
Technical Features of the eActros 600
The series production of the eActros 600 was celebrated by Mercedes-Benz in November 2024 at the Wörth plant. Since December 2024, delivery to customers has been underway. The electric long-distance truck is based on a new development with a range of around
500 kilometers without intermediate charging. This range could also be significantly exceeded depending on driving style and route, the manufacturer adds. According to Daimler Truck, the eActros 600 can manage over 1,000 kilometers daily with charging during legal driving breaks.
The basis for this is a battery capacity of 621 kilowatt-hours, distributed across three battery packs of 207 kWh each. Daimler Truck relies on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, which are characterized by high cycle stability and effective usable capacity of over 95 percent.
The drive is via a new electric drive axle developed in-house. The vehicles are designed for a total technical gross train weight of up to 44 tons. With a standard trailer, the payload according to the manufacturer is about 22 tons, with national regulations possibly leading to different payloads.
Operation Under
Real Conditions
As part of the eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024, the vehicle covered a distance of over 15,000 kilometers through 22 European countries. This was followed by the European Testing Tour Winter at the beginning of 2025 over about 6,500 kilometers through Northern Europe—each with a full load of 40 tons gross train weight. The results of these practical uses were incorporated into the further development of the model.
