The Canadian telematics specialist Geotab has announced the acquisition of Verizon Connect's operational telematics business in Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, France, Portugal, Poland, the Netherlands and Germany. This strategic acquisition, which does not include the product, engineering and other non-sales-oriented teams of Verizon Connect, significantly strengthens Geotab's global presence and market position – particularly in the crucial segment of small to mid-sized fleets
in important international markets. With the integration, they aim to deliver customers a "substantial value and comprehensive data-driven insights." The move expands the reach and scope of Geotab's tailored solutions for fleet operators and ensures that they have access to industry-leading telematics technology, AI and data insights as well as local on-site support, the Canadians asserted.
As part of the acquisition, more than 400 Verizon
Connect employees from Australia and Europe, with their expertise, will also be brought on board. The integration will be led by Matthew Kassel, Senior Vice-President, Strategic Acquisitions and Integration.
“This acquisition marks a decisive moment for Geotab and the connected vehicle industry,” believes Neil Cawse, founder, president and CEO of Geotab. “We are expanding our global reach and strengthening the company's commitment to meeting the
diverse needs of fleets of all sizes.”
He sees particularly new opportunities for greater efficiency, safety and sustainability for small and medium-sized fleets. The sales business will be integrated with immediate effect.
