Gruber Logistics has recently extended its collaboration with Berco for another three years. The subsidiary of the German Thyssenkrupp group uses the Hub Interporto in Bologna for its contract logistics cooperation. From its location in Emilia-Romagna, Gruber Logistics takes care of the consolidation of goods and the national distribution of Berco products.

The company is a manufacturer and supplier of undercarriage systems for heavy machinery, which are integrated into the dealer network by Gruber Logistics. Marcello Corazzola, CEO of Gruber Logistics:

“Five years ago, at Gruber Logistics,

we were mainly active in Germany in contract logistics. We were convinced that it was possible to also serve the Italian market with this service. By utilizing precise process flows, incorporating digital tools, implementing sustainability in social areas, and offering logistic value-added services, we have successfully achieved this. Berco was one of our first partners who believed in this development and worked with us on the new establishment of such a product range in Italy.”

In the 8,000 square meter area of Gruber Logistics in the logistics

hub known as the Freight Village in Emilia-Romagna, the company provides 1,230 storage units for the often very heavy Berco machine parts. Up to 6,000 tons of minimum stock of the undercarriage systems to be delivered can be maintained at the Interporto in Bologna for the Berco dealer network. According to the company, the location serves as a strategic hub for the aftermarket, which involves trade in maintenance, repair, and retrofit services. Giacomo Bottone, CEO of Berco:

“This partnership is part of our growth strategy in the

so-called secondary market, which relies on an increasingly efficient, closely coordinated, and international supply chain. Together with Gruber Logistics, we share the vision of integrated logistics, which not only provides mere transport or warehousing services but acts as a strategic lever that guarantees customer proximity and innovative supply chain solutions. This allows us to meet the demands of ever-evolving global markets.”

The logistics partnership, which lasted four years before the contract extension in spring 2025, is intended to be expanded geographically by both companies in the future,
