Hyster presents a new empty container handler for heavy-duty applications. The J6-7XD-EC3/4 series is equipped with integrated lithium-ion batteries and designed for demanding requirements in ports, terminals, container depots, and intermodal transport, according to the specifications.

Stacking Containers

The electric forklift models are intended to achieve performance comparable to forklifts with combustion engines. The empty container handler features an electric drivetrain, is designed for intensive work cycles, and offers a load capacity of 6,000 to 7,000 kilograms. According to the specifications, it can stack containers

three or four high.

“The shipping and container industry continually focuses on sustainability. The new empty container handler offers a flexible solution to reduce CO₂ emissions without compromising on throughput or reliability,” says Ricky Hirani, Global Commercial Product Leader Big Trucks at Hyster.

The 350V system architecture provides a cost-effective alternative to high voltage systems and is optimized for energy efficiency as well as availability. According to Hyster, the batteries can be configured in the appropriate size.

The standardized CCS (Combined Charging System) for plug-in

devices is said to enable quick interim charging and easy integration into existing electric fleets and infrastructures.

Equipment Features

The curved front and rear windows made of tempered safety glass and the armored roof window are intended to ensure good visibility. Additional advantages mentioned by the manufacturer include the integrated 7-inch color display and the intuitive arrangement of controls. This is said to facilitate operation and promote safe working for the driver even in complex handling scenarios.

The controls of the new model and those

of other Hyster large and container forklifts are designed uniformly – which in turn is intended to simplify the switch to electric forklifts.

Robust Chassis

The Hyster J6-7XD-EC3/4 electric empty container handlers are designed for durability and developed for tough use in container handling – the manufacturer specifies a robust chassis and simplified service access.

Technicians, with appropriate training, can access all high-voltage components via removable panels. Additionally, the lithium-ion battery is maintenance-free. This is intended to help minimize downtime and reduce overall operating costs.
