IDS is strengthening the network with two partners who will in the future cover the previous area of the DSV depot in Baunatal. This is intended to ensure reliable general cargo supply in this central economic area, it says.

Region Göttingen/Kassel

In December 2024, the Geis Group acquired the forwarding company Krüger in Göttingen, which will be responsible for the Göttingen/Kassel area in the IDS network together with Kühne + Nagel Hauneck.

According to reports, the company, which operates under the

name Geis Krüger, currently employs around 230 staff. The location feeds approximately 600 shipments daily into the IDS network and delivers about the same amount in the region.

"With the two Göttingen locations, we continue to expand our role in the IDS network with a 12th IDS depot," said Jochen Geis and Hans-Wolfgang Geis, managing partners of the Geis Group, adding: "We are pleased to serve this central region of Germany together with the IDS partner Kühne + Nagel Hauneck following

DSV's departure."

From Hauneck

The Kühne + Nagel location in Hauneck also functions as Kühne + Nagel's central European hub and has been active in the Bad Hersfeld/Stadtallendorf area for many years. Its area of responsibility will now be expanded as it will additionally take over the northern Hessian region south of Kassel for IDS in the future.

According to reports, around 210 employees currently work in Hauneck, and the transshipment terminal covers 8,000 square meters. Approximately 600 shipments are loaded

into the IDS network there daily. The location is expected to deliver about one-third of the IDS shipment intake for the region and provides 50 local transport vehicles for this purpose.

"We are pleased to take over parts of the former DSV area Baunatal and cover it reliably," says Simon Bitter, Senior Vice President Road Logistics Germany at Kühne + Nagel. "Together with our IDS partner Geis, we ensure that our customers continue to benefit from a strong, stable, and efficient
