Manufacturer Michelin is launching a new tire generation – suitable for commercial vehicles under 19 tons, according to the information. The X Multi Z2 & D2 R 19.5 product line is intended for steering and drive axles and the last-mile delivery in regional and urban use is designed for dense traffic, frequent braking maneuvers, difficult approaches to certain areas, partly poor road conditions and changing weather conditions.

Technical Features

The tires are marketed as offering high mileage, lower rolling resistance and additional performance reserves, which should reduce operating costs and make transport services more sustainable.

Michelin promises for the X Multi Z2 & D2

up to 30 percent higher mileage on the steering axle and up to 15 percent higher mileage on the drive axle compared with the previous generation. This should reduce the number of tire changes and bring economic advantages.

In addition, the new tire generation is characterized by high braking performance throughout its life. Moreover, the 3PMSF marking ensures constant performance and good traction in all seasons.

Duracoil Technology

The new product line is also said to score with increased stability in the bead area and improved durability of the carcass. This is made possible by the so-called Duracoil technology, which is said to offer

an improved transition between tire and rim.

During operation, high-quality nylon protects the bead area and provides improved stability for the bead tip. The reinforcement is said to improve the durability of the carcass as well as retreadability.

Regeneration

Additionally, the so-called Regenion technology is used, which is intended to provide self-regenerating tread blocks and grip throughout the life of the tire.

Over the tire's service life, new grooves would form. Regenion causes a slight deformation of the tread, a low rolling resistance - and thus leads to lower fuel consumption.

Also for Electric Trucks

Thanks to the classification in fuel efficiency class C,

higher mileage and the possibility of retreadability, the tires could achieve savings of up to 925 euros per year per truck compared with the predecessors X Multi Z/D. In addition, CO₂ emissions could be reduced by up to one tonne per year per truck compared with the predecessor, according to the manufacturer.

The tires are also suitable for electric trucks: with higher load-carrying indices in sizes 245/70 R 19.5 and 285/70 R 19.5 (+300 kilograms per axle compared with the previous series with 285/70 R 19.5 or up to 6.3 tonnes per axle in total for the new series), they are also tailored to
