According to the Rhineland-Palatinate Police and the Police Presidium for Operations, Logistics and Technology, on 28 September 2025 at around 11:00 p.m., a downstream-bound barge tow on the Moselle collided with two
road bridges: first with the Schweich road bridge, then with the Longuich road bridge.
During the incident, a total of five of the 40 containers carried were severely damaged. According to the
information, no water ingress could be detected. No one was injured.
Further investigations into the cause of the accident are currently underway. The affected bridges had to be inspected for damage on
the land side, and the State Office for Mobility (LBM) was informed.
