Pacurion has announced that it will fully assume pallet liabilities across Europe in the future. According to the company's statement, the service had previously been tested over a period of nine months together with the Recht Logistics Group.
Test phase with Recht Logistics
The Recht Logistics Group operates 14 locations in Germany and handles, in addition to transport services, also contract logistics projects. There, according to the company, it became clear that pallet liabilities regularly arise. They occur when goods delivered on pallets are not returned to the same extent. Reasons include missing interchangeable load carriers or the use of the available loading space for other freight.
Procedure for taking on pallet liabilities
Pacurion assumes pallet liabilities, according to its own statements, either as the primary debtor or as a co-debtor. The logistics companies pay a market-based price for this. The settlement is effected physically by the delivery of pallets or virtually via a settlement. The procedure is also possible in the reverse case: pallet credits can be sold to Pacurion, and the company then arranges the physical pickup or also a virtual settlement.
“Load carriers are a valuable economic asset,” says Christian Karl Flick, managing partner of the Recht Logistics Group. “If we regularly supply a specialty market on behalf of our customer, pallet liabilities quickly amount to €20,000 to €30,000 per year. In clearing,
both partners must be satisfied, otherwise the customer relationship suffers.”
Significance for logistics companies
According to information from the Recht Logistics Group, pallet liabilities can amount to €20,000 to €30,000 per year. This creates substantial financial burdens for logistics service providers. According to the company, the Pacurion-offered service helps to manage these burdens in a structured way.
Data basis and market overview
Pacurion launched in 2020 as a digital procurement platform and enables the trade of all common load carriers. According to the company, the firm moves around six million units annually and works with more than 1,400 business partners in 17 countries. The Pacurion pallet price index, which operates similarly to a
diesel floater, is said by the company to put the discussion about current market prices on a factual footing.
Collaboration with the Recht Logistics Group
Since 2023, the contract logistics division of the Recht Logistics Group has handled the procurement of around 120,000 load carriers per year through Pacurion. Part of the services are monthly reporting as well as market information such as price analyses or customs information.
Company structure
Pacurion is led by the founders Dominik Leufgen, Dennis Maschmeyer and Hakeem Moruf. Since early 2023, Five Investments, a company of the ThielemannGroup, has been involved as the fourth shareholder. According to Pacurion, this stake strengthens the company's position in the European market.
