The situation in European road freight transport is considered unclear by many companies. This is shown by a recent survey conducted by Timocom among around 150 experts from transport, freight purchasing, and procurement. According to it, 47 percent rate the
market situation for their company as "neither good nor bad." 26 percent see it as rather good, 22 percent as rather bad.
The biggest challenges mentioned by respondents are the driver shortage, declining transport capacities, and rising costs. Additionally, economic
uncertainty and increasing price pressure are weighing on many transport companies. According to the survey, the situation is particularly tense in the OEM sector.
Timocom expert Gunnar Gburek sees a need for strategic action: companies need to either specialize more
or broaden their business model to counteract the pressure on margins.
