An overturned truck blocked the A3 motorway near Erlangen heading towards Würzburg for several hours on the night of Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Traffic had to be rerouted, resulting in significant damage.
According to police, shortly after midnight,
a 24-year-old driver lost control of his truck with a trailer about a kilometer after the Aurach Nord rest area, veering onto the shoulder.
The trailer, loaded with ten tons of packages, overturned and completely blocked the roadway.
Due to the displacement of the central barrier, there were also minor traffic disruptions in the opposite direction.
According to reports, no one was injured in the accident. The damage to the trailer and the road surface is
estimated to be at least 20,000 euros.
For the recovery work, the A3 towards Würzburg was completely closed, according to police. Traffic was diverted at the Erlangen-Frauenaurach junction. The closure was lifted at around 6:00 a.m. on June
