Chem-in-a-Box is a new packaging concept from Auwa, a brand belonging to the WashTec Group for professional vehicle care.
Less plastic
As the name already suggests, this is a cardboard box—paired with a multi-layer plastic bag with an integrated pour spout.
Compared with conventional standard canisters, the new system is said by the supplier to save 83.6 percent of plastic.
In addition, transport volume is significantly reduced, and handling and disposal are straightforward.
The new packaging solution is UN-certified, according to the information provided. According to Christoph Maletz, Vice President, Head of Product Unit Chemicals at the WashTec Cleaning Technology GmbH, the storage, filling and disposal with the new packaging solution are more straightforward compared to conventional canisters.
Chem-in-a-Box enables
direct filling of the canister without additional aids such as a pour spout or a watering can. And the emptied inner bag can be disposed of in the yellow bin, while the cardboard packaging goes into the paper bin.

“If the dosing pumps are in a separate room, the system can be ideally combined with our
new offboard tank solution—of course HSE-compliant,” says Maletz.
Ten different products are now available in the new packaging, with further product solutions to follow during the first half of 2026.
