The Danish telematics specialist Connected Cars A/S and the van manufacturer Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge have announced a new strategic partnership to integrate Connected Cars' vehicle connectivity solutions into the Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge ecosystem for business customers and their vehicles. In this global collaboration, the CC-Link telematics hardware, the CC-DataStream cloud platform, and the ConnectedWorkshop dealer interface from Connected Cars will be united with VWN's fleet management system Connect Pro. By bringing these technologies together, the partnership aims to enable predictive maintenance and real-time diagnostics. This will increase the uptime of the vehicles and improve fleet efficiency worldwide, as promised. The rollout will be phased, starting with core markets, and is expected to be fully implemented in all target regions within the next five years.

“This partnership with Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge represents a major advance in the field of connected vehicle services. By integrating our CC-Link hardware and CC-DataStream platform into Volkswagen's Connect Pro, we enable predictive, proactive maintenance on a global level. Customers benefit from lower downtime and a more personalized service than ever before,” said Jesper Hill-Kjærsgaard, Chief Executive Officer of Connected Cars A/S, praising the innovative spirit of the collaboration:

Integration into proactive service and availabilityConnected Cars shall, within the

framework of the agreement, provide its CC-Link telematics devices for vehicles and the CC-DataStream platform to improve the Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge ecosystem for business and fleet customers. A combination of in-vehicle CC-Link hardware and a connection via OEM telematics provides real-time vehicle data – for example about vehicle condition and vehicle diagnostics such as fault codes. The "ConnectedWorkshop software", the intuitive interface of Connected Cars for dealers, will be seamlessly connected with the Connect Pro portal as a frontend for service partners, it continues.

Ausfallzeiten sollen reduziert werden

Through this integration, VW dealers and authorized workshops will gain immediate insight into the condition of each vehicle and can seamlessly link vehicle and appointment data with Connect Pro. In this way, service teams can address problems proactively before they lead to breakdowns. In this manner, unplanned downtime of customer fleets is to be significantly reduced, the partners promise. Among the most important goals and benefits are:

  • Improved fleet management: By integrating the data stream from Connected Cars into Connect Pro, fleet managers gain a single, global view of the usage and the technical condition of their Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. The combined platform supports smarter planning, wireless over-the-air updates, and data-driven decisions
  • to optimize fleet operations.
  • Real-time diagnostics for dealers: Dealers and service partners can monitor the vehicle condition in real time via the ConnectedWorkshop interface and receive immediate diagnostic trouble codes and warnings. This enables technicians to initiate repairs without delay or contact customers with actionable information.
  • Predictive maintenance: By using live vehicle telematics and intelligent analytics, maintenance requirements can be forecast so that maintenance tasks can be performed before faults occur. This minimizes disruptions and prevents costly breakdowns.
  • Increased vehicle availability: Through proactive problem solving and timely service interventions, vehicles stay on the road longer and more reliably, thereby boosting fleet productivity and efficiency.

Roll-out in all regionsBoth companies have committed to a Europe-wide rollout of these integrated services. The rollout will occur in phases, initially focusing on the most important strategic markets to quickly achieve a certain reach and to gather best practices for subsequent regions. The partnership aims for full integration within the next five years. Until then, all Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge markets are to adopt the Connect Pro platform extended by Connected Cars. This phased strategy is intended to ensure that each market has the necessary training, infrastructure, and support measures available.

“This collaboration enables us to

provide real-time diagnostics and proactive maintenance features to our dealers and fleet customers across Europe. Through the partnership with Connected Cars, we are increasing the uptime of our vehicles and giving our commercial customers powerful new features for fleet management,” said Kersten Lange, Head of Product Marketing & Connectivity at Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge.

The partnership is an example of how automakers and technology innovators can work together to improve the lifecycle value, safety, and customer experience of vehicles worldwide.
