On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Transit, the commercial-vehicle manufacturer Ford has delivered 100 electric models to a total of six charitable organizations, including Caritas, the Malteser, and SOS Children's Villages. For up to twelve months, the organizations can now deploy the vehicles where they are most needed. The vehicles have a cargo volume of up to 15.1 cubic meters and an emission-free drive with a range of up to 315 kilometers for use
in low-emission zones.
The 40 E-Transits, which Caritas alone receives, will be deployed nationwide in more than 150 services and facilities. Among others, the Cologne bike station Invia will receive them on a free loan to transport donated bicycles. With the soup restaurant “KostBar” in Bonn, another qualification project receives support, in which people with mental impairments are prepared for the first job market under real working conditions. With the E-Transit, groceries and meals are transported for
the catering service. In Görlitz, the E-Transit is used, among other things, in homelessness assistance, at a dementia ward, and at a food bank for people in need, while in Stuttgart it helps the needy with relocations.
“As a family business, charitable projects are very close to our hearts. About 10 percent of our Ford Transit models go to charitable organizations,” says Claudia Vogt, Director of Commercial Vehicles Ford DACH. “To support charitable organizations, we provide our
E-Transit free of charge for up to twelve months so that they not only stay emission-free in mobility, but can help even more people.”
