The logistics service provider Dachser has put the first seven fully electric tractor units of the eActros 600 model into operation. The vehicles are integrated into the long-distance general cargo network at the Hamburg, Karlsruhe, Dortmund, and Freiburg locations. They are part of a total order of 15 units, with delivery expected to be completed by the end of the year. The remaining eight vehicles are to be delivered to Dachser locations and service partners. The aim is to test electric long-distance transport
in regular operation and gradually expand it.
Since December 2024, Dachser has been testing the new vehicle generation with twelve additional eActros 600s at the subsidiary Brummer Logistik. There, the vehicles are predominantly used in food transport for daily distances of around 300 kilometers. Each vehicle is planned to have an annual mileage of around 90,000 kilometers. Overall, Dachser now operates more than 140 electric trucks in its European network.
For practical use, Dachser has created charging infrastructure across locations. At the Brummer
location in Neuburg am Inn, among other things, eleven fixed and two mobile fast chargers with up to 400 kilowatts charging power are installed. The supply is exclusively sourced from renewably generated electricity, including from an in-house photovoltaic system with a capacity of 2,900 kilowatts peak. The system is complemented by a battery storage with a capacity of 3,680 kilowatt-hours. The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) supported the infrastructure development and vehicle procurement under the KsNI directive with approximately 4.68 million
euros.
Full-service leasing model for Mercedes-Benz eActros 600
The new electric trucks are operated through a full-service leasing model from Daimler Truck Financial Services. This includes not only financing but also maintenance, repair, tire service, and digital fleet management tools. This allows monitoring of battery condition and evaluation of charging history. Reliable data on the economic efficiency, range, and reliability of the electric trucks can thus be collected.
