The Korean automobile manufacturer Kia has announced the equipment details and prices of the PV5 Cargo, with which the brand returns to the van segment after a long break. It is the first production model based on the brand's new "Platform Beyond Vehicle" approach, which, alongside fully electric vehicles, includes a complete ecosystem of charging and software solutions up to fleet management. Numerous other PBV models and model variants, including passenger car versions, are set to follow the PV5 Cargo. Kia Germany sells the PBV commercial vehicles through a specialized dealer network that is currently being established and is expected

to include 100 locations by the end of the year.

The first model will be available in three different body variants. The long version with a normal-high roof (L2H1), which is now available for order, will be delivered from mid-November. A short version (L1H1) and a long version with a high roof (L2H2) will follow at a later date. The nearly 4.70-meter-long PV5 Cargo L2H1 features a 4.4 m3 cargo space and already offers extensive comfort equipment and the latest assistance and infotainment technologies as standard.

Two battery versions to choose from

At the market launch, there are two battery

variants to choose from (51.5 or 71.2 kWh). Prices start at 39,190 euros (net 32,932.77 euros) for the model with a 51.5 kWh battery and 43,805 euros (net 36,810.92 euros) for the version with the long-range battery. Kia offers a seven-year manufacturer warranty (or 150,000 km) for the PV5 Cargo, as well as an eight-year battery warranty (or 160,000 km).

Own platform for commercial vehicles

The Kia PBV models are based on the standalone platform E-GMP.S (Electric Global Modular Platform for Service). It builds on the strengths of the existing E-GMP electric platform, which is the basis of the multiple

award-winning Kia models EV6, EV9, and EV3. The E-GMP.S is intended to be more focused on the needs of PBV business customers. Its so-called skateboard concept forms a flat base for different body structures, and the integrated modular architecture (IMA) allows key components such as batteries and motors to be standardized, according to the manufacturer. This approach allows a broad range of segments and very diverse usage requirements to be covered. To also optimally tailor production conditions to the innovative vehicle concept, the brand has set up a special PBV plant (Hwaseong Evo Plant) in Kia Autoland Hwaseong in Korea.
