The provider specializing in warehouse automation, Locus Robotics, has implemented its AI-based orchestration platform "LocusOne" at the North German e-commerce company The Creative Club. In Schenefeld near Hamburg, the solution will control a fleet of 45 autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) of the type "Locus Origin". The platform takes over central functions such as task distribution, route planning, and resource utilization. The goal is a more efficient, scalable, and data-driven warehouse operation.

The Creative Club is an online retailer in the DIY (Do-it-yourself) segment in Europe. The company operates twelve online

shops for fabrics, sewing accessories, and digital sewing patterns. Additionally, it markets the digital sewing patterns of external designers and offers fulfillment services for smaller businesses and start-ups. This way, The Creative Club combines creative e-commerce with professional logistics.

Switched from manual picking to an automated system

The approximately 11,000 square meter fulfillment center was fully automated with technology from Locus Robotics within a few weeks. The previously manual picking and shipping preparation was replaced with an automated system that enables faster processing speed and process security. The robots used

operate within a flexible Robot-as-a-Service model, where the systems are not purchased but are used and maintained as needed. According to the company, this improves cost control and significantly shortens the time to return on investment.

Particularly challenging was the handling of fabrics, which had to be picked in linear meters and manually transported to separate cutting stations. After cutting, a re-storage of the remaining quantities was necessary. This multi-stage and path-intensive process significantly reduced the efficiency of the entire fulfillment center.

With the introduction of LocusOne, the warehouse structure

was revised and work areas were strategically repositioned. This allowed for the reduction of manual intermediate steps and minimization of internal transports. Additionally gained storage space and improved space utilization further increase productivity.

Locus Robotics sees the successful collaboration as a sign of the increasing importance of flexible automation solutions in the German market. Denis Niezgoda, Chief Commercial Officer International at Locus Robotics, emphasizes the strategic value of the project: The implementation at The Creative Club shows how modern technologies can also generate measurable added value in specialized sectors like
