Climate change and its impacts on humanity are taking increasingly threatening forms in the shape of droughts, floods, fire catastrophes and severe storms. As a result, strategies to address it are more urgent than ever. At the top of the agenda: solutions in the transport sector, which has continued to increase its CO2 emissions in recent years rather than reduced them. In addition to politics, it is above all vehicle and component manufacturers who are needed here—and their efforts to find alternatives to the classic internal combustion engine as well as many other more sustainable solutions for the environment and climate. Passenger transport is also seeking increasingly new approaches at EU level in the context of the Clean Vehicles
Directive.
Strengthen sustainable action in the industry
Ideas for forward-looking new developments are now in demand, which HUSS-VERLAG accompanies and supports with the busplaner Sustainability Award. Because the aim of the biennial competition is to strengthen manufacturers and service providers within the bus industry as well as bus operators regarding the development of sustainable products and in sustainable action.
„The bus, as a mobility guarantor, is indispensable as a means of transport in our cities and also nationwide. Therefore, with our Sustainability Award we are pleased to contribute by recognizing innovative products and developments and presenting them to a broad public,“ said HUSS-VERLAG Managing Director Rainer Langhammer.

Awards will be given to vehicle models from
electric to fuel cell buses, vehicle components and fittings, accessories, telematics, service and infrastructure. The sustainability level of the product or service is included in the evaluation as well as the quality of the application.

The categories
Prizes will be awarded in fifteen categories. All incoming applications will be evaluated by a highly qualified jury of industry experts according to a scoring system.
Furthermore, three special prizes will go to destinations and experience worlds, to hospitality (hotels) and to cities and city trips,
all of which are proposed by the busplaner editorial team and awarded. In a ceremonial event on 14 April 2026 on the eve of BUS2BUS in Berlin, all prizes will be ceremoniously presented.
