The Polish logistics service provider ILS is rolling out nationwide new "Skypod" systems from Exotec. The implementation projects are being carried out in collaboration with the integrator A1 Sorter, which is also based in Poland and a long-standing Exotec partner, the warehouse robotics provider said in a press release on September 2.
ILS operates a total of twelve locations in Eastern Europe and serves companies in the automotive, food, and chemical industries. ILS's parent company, the vehicle parts dealer Inter Cars, had growth plans and was in a challenging competition for market share and personnel. This could no longer be managed with
the warehouses that existed previously. In particular, because ILS claims to be able to deliver to its customers three times a day.
In this context, Exotec was able to demonstrate the advantages of the "Skypod" system—and not only through the modular design and the very rapid realization times. For, according to Exotec, every warehouse can also be expanded while operations are ongoing.
The ILS headquarters in Zakroczym, Poland (Masovian Voivodeship), were the starting point from which the company serves its distribution network in central, northern and eastern Poland, as well as the Baltic states and Ukraine. The new warehouse with 200 autonomous
robots and about 60,000 containers had already undergone final acceptance in December 2024. Even during the construction phase, ILS had already decided on an expansion of the warehouse, which is expected to be completed by early 2026.
Exotec has also become active for ILS at other sites. In the municipality of Stęszew near Poznań, for example, an additional warehouse is under construction and is expected to go into operation in September 2026. For Romania, at the Brașov (Transylvania) site, final system acceptance is expected in September 2025, which should enable the supply of customers based in the country.
