The IAA MOBILITY 2025 ended in Munich on September 14. The mobility fair took place from September 9 to 14 and, according to the organizer, attracted around 500,000 visitors. More than 750 exhibitors from a total of 38 countries presented new developments in the areas of automobile manufacturing, bicycle and micromobility, energy, charging infrastructure, software, logistics solutions, as well as urban and traffic planning. Representatives of the commercial vehicle and transport sector also used the fair to showcase new concepts.

"The German automotive industry has in Munich demonstrated, in an impressive way, with concrete innovations and world premieres, that we are globally leading, that we are already producing the products for climate-neutral and digital mobility of the future and are continuously working on further ideas," said Hildegard Müller, President of the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA).

One had accepted the challenge; the industry had done its homework. Now the politics is up to speed – there is a need for a maximum offensive for location attractiveness and competitiveness, so that the industry’s successes would also

be successes for Germany and Europe for growth, prosperity and jobs, said Müller.

“IAA Summit”, “IAA Open Space” and “IAA Conference”

The event, as in previous years, was divided into different formats: The “IAA Summit” on the grounds of Messe München served as a B2B platform for Fachpublikum, industry representatives and policy-makers. In parallel, the “IAA Open Space” took place in the city center of Munich. This freely accessible format targeted interested citizens, but also political institutions and actors from urban development and traffic planning.

Both areas were complemented by the “IAA Conference,” which brought together over 500 speakers from industry, politics, science and civil society. The focus was on topics such as decarbonization, digitalization of transport, automation, charging infrastructure, intermodal logistics chains, as well as the transformation of urban spaces.

High share of Chinese exhibitors, strong showing by German passenger car manufacturers

A central aim of IAA MOBILITY 2025 was the stronger international orientation. The share of exhibitors from abroad was around 50 percent. In addition to European companies, manufacturers, suppliers and mobility service providers

from Asia and North America participated. Among them a very high share of Chinese automobile manufacturers, who are increasingly targeting the European market with their electric vehicles.

The German passenger car manufacturers used IAA MOBILITY to present their new developments for the coming months. Especially noticeable: BMW with its “New Class,” which draws attention mainly with long ranges and fast charging times. In the Volkswagen Group, it is noticeable that Wolfsburg apparently intends to offer affordable cars under 25,000 euros again.

Software development, battery and sensor manufacturing and micromobility at IAA MOBILITY

Among the exhibitors were, in addition to established car manufacturers, increasingly providers from software development, battery and sensor manufacturing as well as the micromobility sector. For companies in transport logistics, the fair offered, among other things, insights into new platform solutions for fleet management, urban delivery concepts and developments in electric mobility for light and medium-duty commercial vehicles.

High interest was also shown in the “Cycling & Micromobility Parcours,” which made different forms of mobility experiencable on a test track. In addition, autonomous transport

solutions, modular vehicle concepts and integrated charging and energy solutions were presented on the fairgrounds. In the Open Space, numerous providers relied on direct interaction with the audience – for example through live demonstrations, dialogue formats and digital information offerings.

Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and Messe München are satisfied with IAA MOBILITY 2025

As in previous years, the organizers of the fair were the Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and Messe München. Both expressed satisfaction with the course of the event. The next three editions would also take place in Munich.

“The success of IAA MOBILITY provides momentum for three more editions here in Munich,” explain the two managing directors of Messe München, Stefan Rummel and Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer. “Since its move to the state capital, the event has continued to develop and offers value for exhibitors and trade visitors from all over the world.”

The next IAA MOBILITY is planned for September 7–12, 2027. The upcoming transport and logistics fair IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026 will take place from September 15 to 20, 2026
