The Leipziger Logistik & Lagerhaus GmbH aims to reposition itself within insolvency proceedings. Christian Krönert from the Leipzig branch of the nationally represented law firm Schultze & Braun is overseeing the process as the preliminary insolvency administrator and is examining, together with management, the economic prerequisites for a restructuring of the specialist in beverage logistics. The goal is to achieve a continuation perspective for the locations in Leipzig and the total of around 90 employees of Leipziger Logistik & Lagerhaus. According to Krönert, their wages and salaries are secured at least until the end of October. From November, the company should
be restructured so that wages and salaries can be generated from ongoing business operations.
The Leipziger Logistik & Lagerhaus GmbH is the sister company of Leipziger Logistik & Lagerhaus Südwest GmbH, which is based in Ettlingen near Karlsruhe. German insolvency and restructuring law allows for the singular repositioning of individual companies if they, like in the case of Leipziger Logistik & Lagerhaus GmbH, have a fundamentally intact business model but have fallen into economic difficulties due to external factors.
The Leipziger Logistik & Lagerhaus Südwest GmbH and its operations are not involved in the insolvency proceedings of Leipziger Logistik & Lagerhaus
GmbH. The business at all three locations of the corporate group (Leipzig, Karlstein am Main, Ettlingen) continues in full.
The reason for the operational repositioning of Leipziger Logistik & Lagerhaus GmbH, according to Schultze & Braun GmbH & Co. KG, is the consequential impact of financing costs for vehicles as well as the large price increases in materials and operational resources—particularly as a result of the economic effects of the Corona pandemic and the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.
They must ensure that their financing structure develops and aligns with the growth of the fleet—whether in leasing contracts for the
vehicles or the costs for materials such as spare parts or operational supplies like truck diesel, Krönert conveyed. They have already begun to adapt the structure to the changed conditions. This process will continue in the newly initiated proceedings to reposition Leipziger Logistik & Lagerhaus GmbH in a sustainable and future-proof manner.
