The recently troubled EK Robotics GmbH, a manufacturer of driverless transport systems (FTS), has found a new owner in the cognitive robotics specialist Neura Robotics GmbH. This is stated in a press release dated October 2. The long-term future of the traditional company is thus secured, they are convinced. The Hamburg-based company had recently had to apply for a provisional insolvency procedure (LOGISTIK HEUTE berichtete).
With Neura Robotics from Metzingen, known especially for its humanoid robotics solutions, one gains a partner who will set the course for further development of intelligent, autonomous logistics solutions and open up new opportunities for customers, partners and employees, EK Robotics says.
"With Neura Robotics we gain a partner
who complements our business with innovative strength and offers us new, exciting perspectives. For our employees, customers and suppliers this is a clear signal: EK Robotics remains a strong player in intralogistics," explains Andreas Lindemann, managing director of EK Robotics.
Neura Robotics also emphasizes the importance of the partnership: "The takeover of EK Robotics is far more than an acquisition: it is a departure into a new dimension of mobile robotics. Together we will connect existing strengths with our product portfolios, bring innovations to market faster and create a global offering that sets standards," says David Reger, CEO of Neura Robotics GmbH.
According to the company, the takeover is the result of the self-administered
restructuring procedure, in which intensive work had been carried out in recent weeks to find a viable solution.
Business operations continue without interruption
As part of the transaction, the company will in future operate under the name Neura Mobile Robotics GmbH. The established brand “EK Robotics” remains, according to the press release, as an independent brand and will continue to be present in the market. The operational responsibility will thus continue to lie with Andreas Lindemann, who will lead the company in his role as managing director. The business operations of EK Robotics are to continue without restrictions. All existing customer and supplier relationships will be continued; all service offerings are permanently secured, according
to the company. In addition to the German company, the subsidiaries in England, Italy and the Czech Republic are also part of the transaction – they were not affected by the proceedings.
EK Robotics currently employs around 300 employees at five locations worldwide and generated revenue of around 60 million euros in the 2024 financial year.
The court-appointed insolvency administrator, Stefan Denkhaus, explicitly welcomes the solution:
"The takeover by Neura Robotics safeguards the interests of creditors, customers and employees alike and creates a stable foundation for the company's further development."
The management in self-administration was supported by the team of Jochen Sedlitz and Grub Brugger. The transaction was accompanied by Wayes, the M&A advisory.
