DHL Freight, a provider of road transport services, officially opened its new freight terminal in Graben near Augsburg on July 21. With the move from the previous location in Affing, the company is responding to the increased demands in the southern German region and simultaneously strengthening its nationwide groupage network, according to a press release from the service provider dated July 22. The new location not only offers more space
and modern infrastructure but also benefits from its convenient transport location.
The new terminal is located on a 25,000 square meter site that was previously used by DHL Post & Paket. In recent months, it has been modernized and adapted to the requirements of groupage transport. The approximately 6,200 square meters of transshipment hall, which includes 1,200 square meters of storage space, as well as 360 square meters of office
space, are used for the efficient handling of groupage transports. Over 48 loading gates, shipments from various industries will be handled daily in the future – including for companies in the consumer goods, automotive, packaging, catering equipment, musical instruments, sporting goods, and aerospace technology sectors. The location currently employs around 40 staff; an expansion of personnel is planned with continuing growth.

network,” explains Thomas Vogel, Managing Director of DHL Freight GmbH. “With this location, we create additional capacities to serve our customers even more flexibly, quickly, and sustainably.”
In addition to the conversion to LED lighting, additional office spaces were created, a modern video and access control system was installed, and a charging infrastructure for cars was built. Furthermore, a planned photovoltaic system is to contribute to self-sufficiency in the future.
