For logistics managers, finding suitable logistics space is by no means easy in many parts of Germany. Rather than pursuing a new build on greenfield land, it can pay to focus on older existing halls and upgrade them through refurbishment measures for a new use.
WP Logistik also embarked on such a refurbishment project. In the summer of
last year, the logistics service provider received the contract to organize the pre-packaging business of an internationally operating commercial vehicle manufacturer for its spare-parts warehouse in Halberstadt, Saxony-Anhalt.
After weighing several locations, WP Logistik ultimately chose a property in nearby Oschersleben: an existing building from the portfolio of project developer CTP. To make it fit for the new
use, WP Logistik and CTP carried out a series of renovation and modernization measures.
WP Logistik now uses around 15,000 square meters of logistics and service space at the site, divided into three halls of about 5,000 square meters each, as well as 320 square meters of office and staff facilities. Approximately 40 employees work there for the
company to repack the delivered spare parts into standard pack sizes.
