The Danish retail chain Jysk will in the future use three quarters of the area of the new logistics campus of Max Wild GmbH in Berkheim (Baden-Württemberg). Thus, in the midst of the construction process all storage areas are allocated, the family business announced in a press release on September 29. On 15,000 square meters – 75 percent of the modern storage and logistics spaces – the company stores its merchandise such as furniture, textiles, or home furnishings. From the logistics campus in Berkheim, the goods are transferred to the Jysk logistics center in Kammlach and from there to the individual branches. The remaining 5,000 square meters of the new spaces are used by a regional machine manufacturer, which has already been a long-standing
customer and partner of Max Wild. The completion of the new logistics campus is planned for the end of October; starting in November JYSK will already occupy the first storage spaces. On December 1 the remaining 5,000 square meters of storage space will follow. Jysk chose the logistics campus, according to Max Wild, mainly due to its strategically and geographically favorable location.
“First of all, the logistics campus is close to the A7 motorway and directly on one of our main transport routes,” said Felix Braun, Transportation Manager at the JYSK GmbH. “This enables an efficient connection to our existing freight network. Secondly, it is almost halfway between our Kammlach logistics center and one of our central transfer points.”
In this way they could
better utilize backhaul capacity and make their transportation processes more flexible and efficient overall.
5,000 square meters of the campus area are used by a regional machine manufacturer. For 20 years this company has worked with Max Wild in the area of warehousing and logistics. The family business supports its customers in logistics and will take on further value-added services along the value chain.
“We will cover all tasks between goods receipt and production site,” said Michael Klein, Commercial Manager of Max Wild Logistics.
Existing customers are also expected to benefit from the new storage and logistics solutions as well as the expanded service offerings from Max Wild.
The new logistics campus is being built at the headquarters of Max Wild GmbH in Berkheim.
The already existing 10,000 square meters of storage space will be expanded by a further 20,000 square meters of new storage, logistics and production space. In addition to the storage and logistics spaces, there will be 1,200 square meters of modern workplaces, seminar and training rooms. Max Wild will also make these available for external rental in the future. For the new building and the associated infrastructure, Max Wild is investing around 15 million euros.
In the logistics center, various forklift trucks (up to 32 tons) and overhead cranes (up to 63 tons) will be used.
