In 2017, the former Selecta plant in Arnsberg was taken over as expanded storage space for Meta-Regalbau after a long period of vacancy. Due to the outdated building structure, Meta faced insurmountable constraints on the roughly 10,600 square meters of building space – both with regard to storage capacity due to the building height and with regard to a sensible renovation of the building complex, according to a statement by the Arnsberg storage technology expert on September 16. Through Immoloh, the real estate company of the Joachim-Loh Group, further investments will now be made in Meta's infrastructure, by demolishing and rebuilding Plant 2 (formerly Selecta) on Westring.
Currently,
the outsourcing of all stored products is taking place to a rented transitional warehouse on Grabenstraße/Hüttenstraße. The dismantling of the old buildings begins from mid-September, including the demolition of the vacant administration building on Lucienstraße in Bruchhausen. In January 2026, the reconstruction is scheduled to run until late summer 2026, with the aim of being able to inaugurate the operation of the new Plant 2 at the beginning of 2027. Future-proof, improved warehousing processes with a clear reduction of all consumption values in line with the set sustainability goals – these are the aims of the rebuild.
A nearly 9,000 square meter logistics center will be created, with
which Meta aims to achieve high efficiency in both logistics operations including goods receipt and dispatch and in energy consumption. Hence, in the future truck traffic will be directed to the site already at the Westring/Klosfuhrstraße corner, thus reducing traffic on Lucienstraße at the Westring corner. Closed loading tunnels in the goods receipt area and for long goods loading will further reduce noise emissions. The advantages of the new hall should enable an efficient flow of goods within Meta's logistics.
For this project, the KfW Standard 55 is to be achieved. On the entire roof area, photovoltaic systems are planned, with which Meta intends to greatly reduce external
energy use and contribute to reducing CO2 emissions.
Heating and cooling of the building sections are provided by a heat pump, which can also be used as an air conditioner. In addition, so-called direct radiant panels (cold and warm) are planned to ensure more efficient energy use and a significantly lower dust swirl. With this, Meta-Regalbau aims to provide a comfortable working environment on cold winter days and warm summer days.
Also with the demolition, sustainable solutions are being pursued: the recyclable concrete is crushed and fed back into the circular economy. Thus, a portion of the former Selecta building could live on in the new Plant 2.
