DHL Express Germany and the sanitary technology manufacturer Geberit have recently started using reusable films for load securing again — a packaging solution aimed at a circular economy and making logistics processes more sustainable. This is stated in a press release from the logistics service provider. The so-called “Reusable Pallet Wraps” thus offer the possibility to reduce plastic waste
in logistics. They are used within the DHL Express network to package consolidated shipments onto pallets in a transport-ready manner.
“Sustainable innovations and trusted collaboration are decisive success factors in our business,” emphasizes Mustafa Tonguç, CEO of DHL Express Germany. “The long-standing cooperation with Geberit, which has existed for over 20 years, has led to the implementation of numerous
new ideas. We are pleased that Geberit is now relying on this unique reusable packaging solution for packaging material, which has previously been extensively tested on Europe’s roads.”
Michael Stehle, Head of Transport Management at Geberit, adds:
“Through this novel packaging solution, our sanitary products can be transported undamaged and more resource-efficiently.”
According to DHL, the Reusable Pallet Wraps
protect Geberit sanitary products from damage and weather exposure on the way from the Geberit distribution center in Pfullendorf, near Lake Constance, to the DHL Express Station in Stuttgart. From there, the international shipments are further transported via the DHL Express network. In the next step, the Reusable Pallet Wraps are to be tested and used with additional customers
