Lufthansa Cargo has, according to its own statements, fundamentally renewed its digital offering. The platform “eBooking” thus features an updated interface intended to facilitate bookings of standard shipments. General cargo shipments can thus be booked in roughly half the time previously required. By a memory function for search queries, the process can be shortened to as little as 30 seconds, according to the company.

New features for greater clarity

In addition to the time savings, the platform offers additional features. These include an improved presentation of the

available route options as well as the display of relevant station information. Lufthansa Cargo also plans to integrate additional services in the future, such as a CO2-offset.

“Our new booking process delivers exactly what our customers have asked for: fewer clicks, a clear overview, shorter processes and faster communication. It makes bookings not only easier but significantly more effective. And we won't stop: We will continue to invest in innovation and target AI to accelerate processes, increase transparency and improve service. This puts our customers at the

center — today and in the future,” says Marcel Kling, Head of Digital Sales at Lufthansa Cargo.

Adjustments to shipment tracking

The shipment tracking “eTracking” has also been redesigned, according to the company, and is expected to be available by the end of August 2025. The interface has been redesigned so that customers can trace the transport path of their freight shipments more easily. In the future, proactive e-mail notifications will also be possible, informing about the current status of the shipment or deviations from the transport

plan.

Incorporation of customer feedback

Lufthansa Cargo emphasizes that the adjustments were developed in close collaboration with customers. Their feedback has been specifically incorporated into the optimizations and should also form the basis for future developments.

Digitization and Innovation

Since spring 2025, dangerous goods shipments can already be booked digitally. In May of the same year, the company introduced an AI-based solution that processes booking requests by e-mail faster and more securely. Further projects for digitization and innovation are already in progress, according to Lufthansa Cargo. (av)
