At the start of the new training year, according to the company, 661 apprentices, 22 dual students and eight trainees began their professional careers at Dachser in Germany. In total, 691 young people are starting with the company.
Scope of training in Germany and worldwide
Across all three apprenticeship cohorts, Dachser currently employs 1,707 apprentices, 126 dual students and 15 trainees. According to the company, the training rate in Germany remains steady at around ten percent. Worldwide, about 2,400 young people are in training or

Job profiles of the newcomers
The largest group consists of 283 aspiring clerks for freight forwarding and logistics services. Next come 148 warehouse logistics specialists and 105 professional drivers who are trained through Dachser Service & Ausbildungs GmbH. Additionally, 22 students begin a dual study program in the fields of Business Administration with a focus on Logistics or Insurance. Eight new entrants take up a trainee program.
Skilled labor shortage as a central issue
Dachser
points to the ongoing shortage of qualified skilled workers as well as drivers. According to the company, the logistics provider is therefore continuing to invest in training and the recruitment of junior staff even in a weaker economic phase. At Dachser, the chances of being taken on after a successful apprenticeship are promising.
“Training apprentices in-house and offering attractive career paths for young people even afterwards: This commitment is becoming increasingly important in light of the profound changes in the labor market, which accompany demographic
change,” adds Dachser CEO Burkhard Eling in light of a study by the Institute for the German Economy, which states that by 2036 nearly 20 million workers will reach retirement age. “Our employees are and will remain the decisive factor for the future,” says the Dachser CEO.
