According to Gebrüder Weiss, on 3 September 2025 two new fully electric trucks were put into operation at the headquarters in Lauterach. Two additional vehicles have recently been operating at the Wels site in Upper Austria. They are models of the Mercedes eActros 600 with a battery capacity of 600 kilowatt-hours, a range of up to 500 kilometers, and a drive power of 600 kilowatts. The vehicles are designed for both local transport and longer-distance routes.
Charging infrastructure

Since the public grid for electric trucks is not yet sufficiently developed, the company has built its own charging and energy supply in Lauterach. Two transformer stations, each with a capacity of 1,600 kilovolt-amperes, supply up to 16 fast charging points, eight of which are already usable. The electricity comes from either the company’s own photovoltaic system or from certified green electricity, according to the company. The vehicles can be charged during loading and
unloading, thereby avoiding additional downtime.
Expansion at additional locations
Gebrüder Weiss is also currently installing additional own charging stations at its branches in Vienna, Hall in Tirol, Altenrhein in Switzerland, and Aldingen in Germany. This will allow trips nationwide to be planned without dependence on external charging points.

Planned expansion of the electric fleet
By the end of 2025, the company aims to expand the electrically operated fleet in Austria by a total of 14 vehicles. Five new trucks are to be added in Lauterach alone. For 2026, according to Gebrüder Weiss, the procurement of further electric trucks as well as electric delivery vans for the Home Delivery segment is also planned. (av)
