DP World has delivered the racing catamarans of the global sailing race series SailGP to the port of Southampton just in time for the start of the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix. In doing so, the logistics company is once again supporting the global competition series with transportation services across multiple continents. The next stage will take place on July 19 and 20, 2025, in Portsmouth.
Logistics for twelve regattas worldwide
As part of the partnership with SailGP, DP World is responsible for the entire transport of the F50 catamarans and the associated equipment. The services include packaging, overseas logistics, and the coordination of all port activities. The current delivery in Southampton was part of the season logistics, which
includes a total of twelve international stages. After arrival, the entire infrastructure was moved onward to Portsmouth.
Southampton on the way to becoming a net-zero port
DP World Southampton is the first port in the United Kingdom to fully switch to operations with hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO). Portal cranes and other handling equipment run with lower emissions as a result. According to the company, net emissions have been reduced by over 80 percent due to the measure. The port aims to become a net-zero hub.

Preparation for the event in Portsmouth
The timely delivery of the boats and equipment forms the basis for the setup in Portsmouth. The regatta there is the first return of the SailGP fleet to the UK in three years. Several thousand visitors are expected on site. DP World contributes through its logistics planning to ensuring that the race boats are ready for operation and that the event schedule can be adhered to.
