Mercedes-Benz Trucks is expanding its portfolio of battery-electric trucks and is introducing a new generation of the eActros. From October 2025, transport companies will be able to order the eActros 400 and the eActros 600 in numerous variants. According to the manufacturer, this generation of models replaces the previous eActros 300 and 400, which will be phased out at the end of 2025.

Flexibility for different operating profiles

The new vehicles are intended to offer companies in long-haul and distribution transport more choice in range, payload, and cab equipment. According to the manufacturer, the eActros will in the future be optionally delivered with two or three battery packs. The eActros 400 model has two lithium iron phosphate batteries with a total capacity of 414 kilowatt-hours. With this, a 6x2 chassis in distribution transport at 20 degrees Celsius and partial loading can achieve a range of up to 480 kilometers. The eActros 600 remains designed for longer distances with three battery packs and 621 kilowatt-hours, and can achieve ranges of up to 560 kilometers in the most fuel-efficient configuration.

With the lighter weight of the eActros 400, the maximum tractor payload increases to 9.5 tons.

In combination with a standard trailer, the possible payload, according to the company, is more than 25 tons, and thus on par with comparable diesel trucks.

Charging and drive technology

Both models come standard with charging via the CCS2 interface at up to 400 kilowatts. Two battery packs require around 46 minutes, three packs about 70 minutes for a charge from ten to eighty percent. For long-haul transport, Mercedes-Benz Trucks plans to offer the eActros 600 in the future with the option for the so-called megawatt charging.

Both in the eActros 600 and in the eActros 400, an integrated electric axle with two electric motors and a four-speed transmission operates. The continuous power is 400 kilowatts, and the peak power is 600 kilowatts, according to the manufacturer. Through recuperation, the driver can recover energy when decelerating, which extends the range and preserves the brakes.

Driver cabs and comfort

Customers can choose between two cabin variants. The well-known L-cab with a width of 2.30 meters and low entry is designed for frequent entry and exit and shorter journeys. The aerodynamically optimized Procabin offers more space and comfort for long-haul journeys, including a flat floor, improved

sense of space, and numerous comfort features. Both cabs are equipped with the new Multimedia Cockpit Interactive 2, which offers voice control, e-specific navigation, and real-time information on energy consumption.

Safety and driver-assistance systems

Mercedes-Benz Trucks integrates in the second generation of the eActros a new electronics platform with significantly higher computing power and 270-degree surround sensing. The vehicles are equipped with driver-assistance systems such as Active Brake Assist 6, Active Sideguard Assist 2, Front Guard Assist and Active Drive Assist 3 for semi-automated driving. From February 2026, additional systems are to be introduced that comply with the future EU General Safety Regulation requirements. This includes, among others, the further developed Attention Assist 2, which monitors the driver's attention with the help of an infrared camera.

Digital services and charging infrastructure

According to Daimler Truck, digital solutions are intended to simplify the integration of electric trucks into existing fleets. Through platforms such as TruckLive, My Truckpoint, and Fleetboard, charging processes can be planned, vehicle data monitored, and software updates wirelessly installed. Drivers can also receive real-time alerts about traffic disruptions.

At the same time, Daimler Truck is building its own charging network for electric

trucks under the brand name Truckcharge. By 2030, more than 3,000 fast-charging points are to be built in Europe. With this, the company aims to improve the availability of charging infrastructure, which, according to management, is crucial for the economical operation of battery-electric long-haul vehicles.

Financing and entry into electromobility

For transport companies planning to switch to electromobility, Daimler Truck offers various financing and leasing models. The product "eService Leasing" combines mileage leasing with a comprehensive service contract and guaranteed residual value. In addition, there are flexible rental offers in Germany via Charterway, which bundle maintenance, insurance, and statutory inspections into a single monthly rate.

Importance for the transport industry

The new models are intended to make battery-electric road freight transportation economically more attractive. Mercedes-Benz Trucks emphasizes that the second eActros generation, thanks to modular configurations, offers tailor-made solutions for different operating profiles. At the same time, the company stresses that the success of the transformation depends on expanding charging infrastructure.
