Korean Air has, according to its own statements, once again received the CEIV Pharma certification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The program “Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics” is a global benchmark for quality and expertise in handling and transporting pharmaceutical products.
Comprehensive assessment according to international standards
For the certification,
according to IATA, more than 280 audit criteria are applied. These cover, among other things, transport processes, storage facilities, equipment and compliance with statutory regulations. Korean Air first received the certification in June 2019. After the first renewal in 2022, this is now the second recertification.
Measures to improve processes
For this year's renewal, Korean Air
established a company-wide task force. This reviewed all processes in pharmaceutical transport, updated operating manuals and improved internal procedures. In addition, inspection systems were expanded to ensure full compliance with the latest international standards.
Participation in the CEIV Community of Incheon International Airport
Korean Air is part of the CEIV Community of the Incheon International Airport
Corporation. According to the company, the airline works closely with the airport and other logistics partners to improve the quality of transport of high-value cargo, including pharmaceuticals. Incheon International Airport is certified by IATA in three CEIV categories — Pharma, Perishables and Lithium Batteries — and supports participating companies in improving their specialized freight processes.
