Rheinkraft International, based in Duisburg, acquired the Blin freight company from Salzgitter on August 1, 2025. According to a press release from both companies dated August 1, 2025, the transaction is an asset deal, in which all employees and equipment of Blin are transferred to Rheinkraft International.
Focus on Steel and Industrial Goods Transport
The Blin freight company was founded in 1984 by Frank Blin. Since then, the company has been active in the Salzgitter region as well as in national long-distance transport. The focus of its transport services is on customers
from the steel industry and the industrial sector. According to the press release, the operational traffic mainly moves between the Salzgitter area and the Ruhr region.
Expansion of Activities in Northern Germany
With the acquisition, Rheinkraft International aims to further expand its market position in northern Germany. The company already has a location in Langenhagen near Hanover. Additionally, in 2024, a plot of 86,000 square meters in Salzgitter was leased long-term. The grounds also include several warehouses.
"We have been represented in the region for a long time through a location in
Langenhagen near Hanover," explains Dirk Müller, Managing Director of RKI. "Our goal is to further expand our presence in the region. Last year, we already leased an 86,000 square meter plot in Salzgitter, including warehouses, on a long-term basis. The Blin freight company perfectly complements our portfolio and capacities. The acquisition is an important step in pursuing our strategic goals," Müller continues.
Rheinkraft International calls the acquisition of the Blin freight company a strategic addition to its existing offerings. The integration of the Blin structures is intended to specifically expand capacities and
the range of services.
Long-Term Support of the Transition
Company founder Frank Blin will actively accompany the transition over the next two years. He emphasizes:

With the acquisition of the Blin freight company, Rheinkraft International, by its own account, strengthens its role as a service provider for the steel industry and consequently pursues its growth strategy.
